Today I had the opportunity to lead the chapel at the place
I work. Each time I am able to
lead chapel, I am always incredibly blessed by the way the Lord works through
me, the reception of the clients and employees, and the blessing of being able
to do ministry at my job. I love
nothing more than playing worship songs for the clients at my job. I somehow feel closer to Jesus through
the chapel time because He truly enables me to worship only Him as I share with
the others in the room. He guides
my words and the songs I sing.
Today, I was leading chapel for essentially a whole new set
of clients and I was definitely feeling anxiety before starting chapel. When I woke up this morning, I honestly
did not know what I was going to do.
I had let my fears allow me to procrastinate. I had been battling whether I wanted to do the chapel or
whether I was going to chicken out.
Through this struggle Jesus reminded me of a lesson he taught me long
ago originating in Matthew 8:26, when Jesus says to the disciples, “Why are you
afraid, O you of little faith.”
Jesus had confronted me with this scripture years ago when I
dealt with debilitating anxiety.
Through this scripture he showed me I have nothing to worry about in
Him. As soon as He told the
disciples this he rebuked the storm, that caused the disciples to come to Him
in the first place, and it instantly ceased. He tied this scripture together with Philippians 4:13, “I
can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” and Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus
is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” In essence, He showed me that I had nothing to worry about
in Him.
As he reminded me of the lesson He had taught me long ago, I
kneeled down and gave my fears and anxieties to Him. I asked Him to lead me in what music and message I should
do. He showed me everything. He gave me the words, the music, and
the peace I sought in Him. Our God
is so faithful. He knows
everything we need. He is always
available to us and desires for us to lean on Him daily. I hope you would put any burden, worry,
fear, or problem in His mighty hands today. Remember Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to me, all
who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from
me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your
souls. For my yoke is easy and my
burden is light.” I hope this
uplifts and encourages you.
Blessings,
Greg
